An automotive dashboard overlay is a functional graphic film or panel used on instrument clusters, vehicle display windows, dashboard interfaces and control panels. It provides the visual surface, display window, protective layer and bonding interface between the vehicle electronics and the driver.

A well-designed automotive overlay must meet strict requirements for optical clarity, color consistency, surface durability, UV resistance, bonding stability, readability and long-term reliability under vehicle operating environments.

Lock Day and Night Artwork to the Same Mechanical Datums

Day artwork, illuminated legends, blocker or diffusion layers, display-window borders and the outer profile should not be approved as unrelated files. Give every controlled layer the same origin, orientation mark and mechanical datum set. Name the revision of each layer used in a sample so a night-state adjustment cannot silently replace the approved front graphic.
