Custom HMI Front-Panel DFM Review
Confirm the component boundary first, then review how a separate printed interface fits the display opening, housing and assembly route.
Supply boundary: Baoshengda supplies confirmed custom printed interface components, graphic overlays, membrane interfaces and related parts. We do not supply LCD displays, PLCs or complete HMI controllers.

Where does the DFM review begin?
Begin by separating the LCD or HMI module from any external printed component. Baoshengda manufactures custom printed interface components, graphic overlays, membrane interfaces and related confirmed parts. We do not supply the LCD display, PLC or complete HMI controller.
A front photo, back photo, housing opening or simple drawing can establish whether there is a separate part worth reviewing. The result is a component-scope decision, not a promise about the complete machine interface.
Mechanical interfaces to check
Display window and housing cutout: compare the visible area, border, corner radius and positional tolerance.
Adhesive area and sealing edge: confirm a continuous bonding land around openings and keep fasteners, ribs and edge breaks outside the seal path.
Tail route and connector clearance: mark the tail exit, first bend, insertion direction, mating connector and service access before tooling.
Artwork and die-cut alignment: tie legends, windows, colors and printed borders to the same drawing revision used for cutting and inspection.
A photo-to-drawing review process
1. Identify whether the visible interface is an integrated HMI module or a separate overlay, membrane switch or laminated front panel.
2. Record the housing opening, bonding surface, display window and any connector or tail route that belongs to the external component.
3. Mark DFM conflicts and open assumptions. Baoshengda can manufacture only after the separate part and its construction are confirmed.
Review matrix
| Review item | What to provide | What the review checks |
|---|---|---|
| Window cutout | Drawing or straight-on photo | Visible area, border and cutout alignment |
| Housing fit | Opening dimensions and side view | Edge clearance and flat bonding land |
| Adhesive and seal | Bonding surface and exposure notes | Continuous land, edge path and openings |
| Tail and connector | Back photo or route sketch | Exit, bend, clearance and mating access |
| Artwork | Vector artwork and revision | Legends, windows, colors and die-cut registration |
Is Your Interface Component Within Our Scope?
Choose the closest description. This first step avoids treating a complete LCD or HMI controller as a printable front-panel project.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an HMI display and a graphic overlay?
The HMI display contains the visual or electronic interface. A graphic overlay is a separate printed film or front surface that may frame, label or protect the display and surrounding controls.
Can a printed front panel be supplied separately from the display module?
Yes, when the equipment design treats it as a separate part with its own geometry, material, artwork and inspection requirements. The boundary must be confirmed first.
What should be reviewed before manufacturing an HMI front panel?
Review the display window, housing cutout, adhesive area, sealing edge, tail route, connector access, artwork revision and printing-to-cutting alignment.
Does a DFM review replace equipment validation?
No. Baoshengda can review manufacturability for the confirmed component. The equipment owner remains responsible for system requirements and final validation.
